MGEN REDEFINES e-LEARNING AND KNOWLEDGE
MANAGEMENT MARKETS
-- mGen Enterprise Integrates Knowledge
Asset Applications, Including Training, News and Information,
Knowledge Communities, Corporate Knowledge Management
and Human Capital Management --
Foxborough,
MA - April 3, 2002 - mGen, Inc., a leading developer
of advanced distributed knowledge, human capital and
learning management systems, today announced the availability
of the newest version of mGen Enterprise, the most advanced
knowledge and learning management solution ever offered
to the market. mGen Enterprise enables companies to
distribute knowledge assets, often isolated in separate
applications, and make them available on a single platform.
For the first time, users can share and distribute knowledge,
information and human capital management throughout
the organization in a seamless environment.
mGen Enterprise will enable Fortune
500 enterprises and major government agencies to:
· Create internal knowledge portals for employees
to access, collaborate and develop content according
to the needs and requirements of the organization;
· Develop and deploy a variety of rich media
content to enhance training programs;
· Search and fill employment opportunities and
voids according to an employee's specific skill set;
· Search, enroll and complete required training
classes; and
· Offer knowledge communities and discussion
groups to collaborate on a variety of news and information.
"Everyone learns in a different
way, so organizations need to provide information through
a variety of applications to foster learning and knowledge
sharing among personnel," said Jack Battersby,
president and CEO of mGen. "Technology should be
an enabler, not an obstacle, to this process. Through
customer feedback and an evaluation of the current markets,
we have developed a Web-based organizational communications
system that accommodates traditional classroom based
learning, e-Learning, knowledge management, human capital
management, news and information and knowledge communities.
By blending all knowledge-based initiatives into one
system, users can retain and manage intellectual capital
in the most efficient and effective manner."
In order to effectively leverage knowledge
assets, large organizations need to create a unified
e-Learning and knowledge management system. Companies
with geographically dispersed sites have the added challenge
of making content available in multiple locations. These
organizations need a distributed architecture to successfully
deploy their knowledge assets throughout the company,
as well as a system that is based on universal content
standards to ensure a seamless integration and immediate
access to their content.
Some of the features and benefits of
mGen Enterprise include:
Learning and
Content Management
A platform enabling the delivery and management of all
facets of training and training methodologies. mGen's
learning management system dynamically generates personalized
learning environments for individuals or groups of users
and manages classrooms, learning assets, instructors,
schedules, learning paths and all of the necessary components
to deliver training in an effective manner.
Human Capital
Management
A repository enabling users to query the achieved knowledge,
skills and certification of an organization, or more
importantly, find a gap in the organization's expertise.
Human Capital Management also allows employees to see,
at a glance, the knowledge required to do their jobs
and the training that they lack. The system may be searched
for a variety of scenarios, such as individuals who
possess a specific skill or groups of individuals who
lack a certain skill. Users can view their personal
skills record (i.e. skills attained and skills required)
and self-enroll or request training to achieve a skill
or certification.
News and Information
The News and Information subsystem enables an organization
to develop a knowledge repository through the authoring,
collaborating and publishing of internal organizational
news, as well as news received from external Internet
news feeds that follow the RSS standard. Users can customize
their personal home page in the same manner as commercial
personalized portal providers.
Knowledge Communities
Knowledge Communities are environments set up for specific
organizational topics, encouraging interaction through
the use of threaded discussion, FAQs, a searchable knowledge
archive, workflow and document management, access to
and identification of Subject Matter Experts and other
collaborative capabilities.
Administration
The mGen Administration system provides the ability
to manage all facets of the system either in a centralized
or distributed manner. Whether there are 30 or 3,000
managers of learning and information, this system will
allow them to work autonomously with specific people,
content and capabilities that they have the right to
administer. With the unique implementation of rights
and visibilities, an organization can be segmented by
specific initiatives, by geography, by demographics,
or any combination of the three. Using the most advanced
technologies available today, mGen provides these capabilities
in a robust and secure environment.
