MGEN AND VERMONT NATIONAL GUARD PROVIDE DISTANCE TRAINING FOR DEPARTMENT OF ARMY AND OTHER GOVERNMENT AGENCIES

-- mGen Refines Training Process to Achieve Greater Efficiencies and Enhance the Professional Development Needs of Dispersed Soldiers --

Foxborough, MA - February 27, 2002 mGen Inc., a leading developer of advanced distributed knowledge, human capital and learning management systems, today announced that the Vermont National Guard has implemented mGen's distance learning software suite to remotely offer Information Operations courses to soldiers located across the country. With this successful execution, mGen continues to enable organizations to develop and deploy blended knowledge and learning management systems.

"With the help of mGen, we are providing the government and tax-payers with a cost-effective way to train soldiers located in geographically dispersed locations," said Major Dan Molind, Vermont National Guard. "The solution's ability to provide interactive support from technicians and instructors located in Vermont has been a hit with the soldiers. We plan to implement additional courses for remote and on-site training, due to the successful adoption of mGen's learning technologies."

The Vermont National Guard is responsible for training missions for the Army, Army National Guard, Air Force and Air National Guard. While some of the courses are conducted in traditional classroom and computer laboratories in Vermont, others such as the Incident Response Handler (IRH) course, for example, are offered remotely through the Web via a soldier's desktop. Interactively facilitated by a teacher in Vermont, the IRH course provides soldiers with instruction on how to handle security issues related to automated information systems. mGen's platform enables soldiers to engage in a unique and comfortable learning environment by incorporating distance learning technologies such as streaming audio and video and real-time collaboration. By providing a blended learning environment, soldiers have the opportunity to access a greater depth of training and can complete courses more quickly than they have in the past.

"Organizations such as the Vermont National Guard are looking for ways to not only off-set the cost of required training, but to provide more training without sacrificing quality," said Jack Battersby, CEO and president of mGen. "mGen is proud to have the opportunity to participate in the critical mission of the Vermont National Guard and is pleased to offer them a flexible solution that enhances the professional development needs of end-users in the most efficient and effective manner."
